1. Export formats
This is the row that matters most, because it is the job ChatGPT Exporter exists to do. Their site lists PDF, Markdown, plain text, JSON, CSV and image. ChatPeer exports TXT, Markdown, JSON and PDF, plus bulk export as a ZIP.
CSV and image are theirs alone, and CSV in particular is genuinely useful if you are pushing conversations into a spreadsheet. On raw format count they win.
2. Where the export is generated
Their privacy statement is specific, and worth quoting in full: “We do not store any of your conversation data. When you export to PDF, the data is only temporarily processed on our servers to generate the file and is immediately deleted afterward. All other export formats (Markdown, Text, JSON, CSV, Image) are processed entirely within your browser.”
So five of their six formats never leave your machine, and the sixth does. Temporarily, and then deleted — but a PDF export means the conversation is transmitted to and rendered on a third-party server. ChatPeer builds every format, PDF included, in the browser from the local message store. If the conversation is one you would not paste into a stranger's web form, that difference is the whole comparison.
3. Finding the conversation first
An exporter assumes you have already found the chat you want. ChatPeer is built the other way round: full-text search over every message, nested folders, automatic tagging into five categories, and message-level bookmarks, so the conversation is findable months later.
ChatGPT Exporter's site describes none of these, because organising history is not what it is for. This is a scope difference, not a shortcoming.

ChatGPT Exporter is a good tool at the job it chose, with more formats than ChatPeer and a lower price for doing only that. If downloading is all you need, download it. ChatPeer is worth the difference when the problem is not getting a conversation out but finding it again six months later — and when a PDF of that conversation should be built on your machine rather than on someone else's.
