Best Chrome Extensions for ChatGPT and Claude (2026)
There are more Chrome extensions for AI chat than anyone can sensibly try, and they cluster into three jobs: organising a history you already have, exporting conversations out of it, and giving you better prompts to put in. Choosing well is mostly a matter of knowing which of those three is actually your problem — and, second, how much of your conversation history you are willing to let leave your machine. Below are seven, each checked against the vendor's own website rather than anyone else's summary of it.

Which job is yours?
Organising is the problem if you have hundreds of conversations and cannot find the one from last month. You want folders, full-text search over message bodies rather than titles, and ideally tagging that happens without you filing anything. ChatPeer, Echoes, AI Toolbox and Superpower ChatGPT all do this; they differ mainly in how many platforms they cover and what leaves your browser.
Exporting is the problem if you know exactly which conversation you want and simply need it as a file. That is a narrower job and a cheaper one — ChatGPT Exporter does it for almost nothing, with more formats than anything else here.
Prompting is the problem if the conversations themselves are the weak point. AIPRM is a catalogue of prompts rather than a way to manage chats, and Monica is a way to reach many models at once. Neither will help you find last month's thread.
The question underneath all of them
Every extension on this list can read the conversations on the page it runs on — that is how any of them work. The difference is what happens next, and the vendors are not equally specific about it.
Echoes, Superpower ChatGPT and ChatPeer all describe local-first storage. AI Toolbox says conversation content stays in your browser but that folders, prompts and tags sync to their servers, encrypted at rest. ChatGPT Exporter says five of its six export formats are processed entirely in the browser, and that PDF is rendered on their servers and then deleted.
None of those is disqualifying. But if your conversations involve client work, medical notes, legal research or anything under an NDA, it is worth reading the actual privacy policy of whichever you pick rather than the summary — including this one.

How this list was made
Every claim about every tool here was read from that tool's own website on 23 September 2026, and each entry links to the source. Where a vendor does not publish a detail, this page says so rather than filling the gap with a guess.
We have not run timing benchmarks, so nothing here claims one extension is faster or lighter than another. Chrome's own task manager, at Shift+Esc, will tell you that for your machine better than we could.
Seven tools are covered because seven is the number we checked properly. We would rather be useful about a handful than vague about dozens.

Will an extension slow down ChatGPT?
None of the vendor sites publishes performance figures, and we have not measured any of them, so this page makes no claim either way. Chrome's task manager (Shift+Esc) shows the memory each extension is using if you want to check on your own machine.
